Photo of the Year 2008: The Elephant

The best photos between the images posted on JuzaForum every week!

Well, of course not really an elephant, rather my macro version :D
Image
Nikon D40x, Sigma 150 macro + 1,4 tc, 1/200, f14, iso 100, flash

Colourcasts can be an extreme problem when shooting flash-macro against a colourfull, especially yellow or red flower, because of the reflecting light. Here I have manually combined two different coulorcorrected exposures from the same raw to get a more realistic photo.

All Comments & Critiques are much appreciated :D, William!
Regards,
William

Fantastic photo!
respirándonos, miramos la campiña que adormece el sol,
los valles y los bosques y la humilde flor,
las islas navegando por la soledad...

It's great! My nit is that the tapering-off-to-the-left pinkish leaf-tip isn't visible, and that causes me to wonder if it is indeed a leaf tip and what the fly is standing on. So maybe crop at the bottom so that pinkish leaf tip is the base? Then I'd have nothing to think about but the fly, and the amazing detail in its "trunk" and its face between the eyes. Oh, and the nice soft-colored background, too.

Congratulations William. A very amusing and unique take on the fly photo. It was only when I looked at this photo again that I realised the fly appears to be standing on its tongue.

I keeps wondering how could an elephant shot end up in Macro & Flora, not until I click the link ;)
Congrats.
