I was approaching this robberfly sitting on a leaf when all of a sudden it made a swift loop above my head and returned to the exact same spot with this nice looking LB. Those OOF yellow spots behind the eyes are the distinctive yellow halterae of his species of robberfly (not sure which species it is at this point)

Thanks for looking!

Great capture John. You really took advantage of the moment. Very nice lighting on this tricky subject as I expect from your set-up. Overall it's a very strong image and works really well.

Very good John, amazing eyes. You realize what amazing predators these insects are when you think you've scared them but they land a second or 2 later having caught an insect you never even saw. I've only experienced this once. regards Trevor

stunning eye detail, perhaps a two shot stack would have got all the prey in focus but f22 has done a pretty good job without it seems much loss of resolution.

A bit late ;) Congrats John!
It's a great catch and image, with the color and the action really standing out.
