Shooting data: D300, Sigma 150 macro+36mm extension+DCR-250, 1/250, f/14, iso 200, flash, hand held, cropped on right side to 3:4 aspect, some painting on the bg to deemphasize a straw of grass.

Hi all!

Another ant image. This one is using the antenna of a Wood Lice as a handle.
Looks very uncomfortable to me, what do you think?

Many thanks for looking :D

Edit: Only cropped right side, not both sides as I first stated. I was writing from memory as it was a while since I processed the shot, sorry!

Wow! Superb details, William!

Great action shot. Excellent dof and colors.

Condition of lice is so hard, but this is one of the rules of God.

Hi all! Many thanks for the comments and suggestions :D :D :D

Ecka here is the unprocessed original frame, with grass, colorcast, dustspots and all.
It does seem as I remembered wrong and in fact I was only cropping the right side so thanks for making me going back to the original and check :)
I was writing from memory as it was a while since I processed the shot. Obviously not a good thing to do

I think its more than uncomfortable William, I guess its like having a pair of bolt croppers pulling at your leg!
I'm really glad to see your RAW file and the problems you also have to address when PP'ing an image. You have done a great job on the grass, I would never of know it was there if for not seeing the Raw. Its good to know that even your shots (although not all, I guess) need some advanced work in PS etc to get the results you always do. Oh......... great picture too William

Paul.

Fabulous shot William. Firstly, ouch, but most of all it's a fantastic ant close-up, one of the best I've seen. A great behavoural shot as well. Perfection and such honesty. Your full frame shot's very good in its own right.
