Great control of depth of field with the 180 John -- do you happen to use a focus rail? I've seen so many shots on here that are so much sharper than what Iv'e been able to do with similar settings and the same lens (have not tried live view yet on D300). Great detail in this image and nice comp -- a somewhat humorous pose to me by the bug doing "all the work" (with it's front legs up in the air). Great light too -- natural light? Overall, a great image!
"So many great photos to be attempted, so little time!"

Thanks for the comments, flyphotoguy. No, I do not use a focus rail (although I'd love to have one). Also, this was done with natural light which is my preference for all my photos. I would HIGHLY recommend your using live view. I have been amazed at how it has helped the clarity of my images since I started using it.

Thank you all so much. As I've said before, if I've made any progress as a photographer, it is because of the inspiration and advice from all of you. Thanks again. (And thank you, Juza, for such a great site!!!)
