This is a lovely shot John, beautiful details and very good composition. It sounds as though I am carping for the sake of it to make a suggestion but I would have backed off a little I feel it is just a little tight in the frame and you would have had just a little more depth of field, consequently the insect's right wing would then have been in focus/as sharp as it's left wing.
Kind regards,

Jon,
Thanks for the suggestion. You may be right. I took a few other shots that showed more of the surrounding, as well as a few that were little more than head portraits. (He was very cooperative!) Maybe it's just a matter of personal taste. I'd be happy to hear anyone else's take on it.

Hi John, a very good image for my tastes in that is doesnt have every colour of the rainbow, just some lovely subdues natural tones. re Jon's point, I'd perhaps leave just a little more room around this one, and it is a macro trueism that moving back is an easy way to give a little more depth of field. From what you said you have covered all bases. regards Trevor
